The Way of Tea

Description: Blending herbal tea is an artistic experience. It provides you with the opportunity to play with color, smell, taste and texture. In this workshop, learn the whys and how's of herbal tea blending. We will begin with learning how to dry your own herbs, good sources of dried herbs and how to check for quality. We will take time for talking about creating medicine for the whole human being by using different parts of the plants. Our focus will be on herbs that you can grow in New Hampshire and that are helpful for the winter around here. We will take a virtual tour of Bee Fields Farm herb garden and a walk into Badger's garden to explore different textures, colors and smell. We will end our day creating a blend your own herbal tea to take home.

Bio: Lior is an herbalist and a biodynamic gardener. Her passion for local food and local traditional medicine inspired her to found Bee Fields Farm with her husband Elad. Bee Fields farm is home for a vegetable CSA, more than 100 different medicinal herbs, goats, chicken and bees. Lior's love for the local plants of New England inspired her to cultivate “At Risk” species and turn Bee Fields farm into a United Plant Savers Sanctuary. Her faith in the healing qualities of herbs, the lessons she learned from the plants and her experience with using herbal medicine for over 15 years guides her when preparing remedies.

Cultivating a Successful Home Business

Description: In my opinion, “visualizing the ideal” is one of the most important steps in building and cultivating a successful business. It’s so easy to get caught up in dollars and numbers and how busy we are that this important and extremely practical step is often neglected. Visualizing the ideal is a business plan of the mind that takes into consideration spirit, people, planet, family, health, fun, kindness, generosity, financial success and invisible forces! The focus of this workshop will be helping you to create your own personal plan by working with case studies, storytelling, art, visualization and creative business problem solving systems. Ideally, you’ll leave with an improved vision that will help you make your business more successful and rewarding.

Bio: Bill is a self-taught entrepreneur. He started making and selling loop potholders door-to-door back when he was about seven or eight years old. The Badger business started with one product and a dream in the back room of Katie and Bill's home almost 20 years ago. Today Badger employs over 70 people and offers over 100 personal care products, from soothing balms and mineral sunscreens to oils, soaps, lip balms, natural bug spray and a men's grooming line.

Cheese Making

Description: Learn how to make Ricotta & Mozzarella at home. Ricki will talk about cheese making in general and answer questions. Each participant will receive a Ricotta & Mozzarella Cheese Kit with enough ingredients to make these delicious dairy treats in your own kitchen.

Bio: Ricki Carroll, aka the Cheese Queen, is the owner and founder of New England Cheesemaking Supply Company (1978) and author of "Home Cheese Making". Ricki has pioneered home cheese making around the world, starting the home cheese making revolution. Ricki has appeared on the Today Show, in the New York Times and just about every publication in America. Ricki is a founding member of the American Cheese Society and has been teaching classes in Home Cheese making for over 35 years.
