At Badger, we create safe products with sustainably and ethically sourced ingredients. Each product we create is made with the intention of protecting and healing our customers as well as being truly safe for the planet – from our Fair-Trade Certified Cocoa Butter Lip Balms to our reef-safe sunscreens. But as we’ve grown as a business, we’ve expanded our efforts to achieve positive change for people and the planet in more innovative and creative ways.
Cleaning the Ocean, One Bottle at a Time
Our new Chamomile and Lavender Foaming Baby Washes are innovatively designed with the health of babies and the planet in mind. The palm-free formula – one of the first of its kind -- is organic, pediatrician-tested, hypoallergenic, and contains only vegan ingredients, making these washes completely safe for babies as well as for Mother Earth. The gentle foam soothes the senses with the beautiful scent of lavender or chamomile, while the bottle itself plays a role in our sustainability goals.
Each wash is bottled in 100% recycled and recyclable plastic with an additional 100% OWP (Ocean Waste Plastic) collection through our partnership with the ReSea Project. This means that for every bottle we make, the equivalent weight of plastic is removed from the ocean and waterways. The recovered plastic is then put back into the supply chain by ReSea, so nothing goes to waste!
Our hope is that these bottles will help make a tangible difference in the fight against pollution and address the critical issue of plastic waste in our oceans.
To put things into perspective, roughly 14 million tons of plastic enter the ocean every year. There is so much in the ocean right now that it could fill an Olympic swimming pool every day for a year and a half. The ocean is our planet’s biggest ecosystem. It covers 71% of Earth’s surface, provides 50% of the oxygen we breathe, and absorbs 25% of the Co2 emitted by humans. In order for the planet to be healthy and thrive for years to come, we must do our part to protect it now.
By taking steps to remove some of this trash, we can collectively make the world a healthier place for future generations – including the babies that will be using our Foaming Washes!
The ReSea Project
ReSea provides a comprehensive approach to sustainability by combining waste reduction, recycling awareness, and environmental initiatives that remove plastic waste from Indonesia’s ocean and river systems. It is founded on the belief that businesses have the power to make the world a better place – a principle that we hold dear at Badger as well.
The cleanup itself is community-driven, with ReSea engaging local groups in Indonesia to recover plastic waste from heavily polluted oceans and rivers. Through their well-documented and third-party certified efforts, they remove plastic that has already ended up in oceans and rivers to stop it from doing more harm to the environment.
Our use of OWP for our Baby Washes, in partnership with the RESEA Project, is part of our commitment to making a positive impact for the planet and promoting a more sustainable future. We’re grateful to be taking this next step on our journey toward a greener tomorrow with washes that the whole family can use and enjoy.
