Unscented Beauty Balm

Unscented Beauty Balm

This recipe will yield 3.5 oz. of balm

Honor and renew your beautiful skin! The Unscented Beauty Balm was originally formulated as a nourishing treatment for face, neck, and under eye area. This delightful moisturizer is great for hands, too! This super-emollient and easily absorbed beauty balm keeps skin soft, smooth, and happy. Want to add your own touch? Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to make your own personalized beauty balm!

Supplies:

  • Clean 4 oz jar and tight-fitting lid (or 2-4 smaller jars or tins)
  • Small heat-resistant mixing bowl or glass measuring cup
  • Medium saucepan
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Measuring cups (for wet ingredient measurement)
  • Thermometer (optional).

Ingredients:

2.3 ounces or 4 1/2 tbsp Organic Sunflower Oil
4 tsp Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
.37 ounces or 2 1/4 tsp Organic Beeswax
16 drops Sunflower Vitamin E*
12 drops Organic Rosehip CO2 Extract
12 drops Organic Seabuckthorn CO2 Extract
3 drops Organic Calendula CO2 Extract

*NOTE: This might be a difficult ingredient to source. Mountain Rose Herbs has a non-GMO soy-based vitamin e oil that could work. Alternatively, you could skip this ingredient altogether. Just know that not including this ingredient will cut the shelf-life of your product a bit.

Directions:

  1. Gather all of your ingredients and supplies.
  2. Add the Sunflower oil, Olive oil, Beeswax, and Sunflower vitamin E to your saucepan.
  3. Put the saucepan on the stovetop on medium heat. Heat to around 140-150 degrees (Fahrenheit). Hold at this temperature until the mixture is clear. (Note: if you don't have a thermometer, just heat until the mixture is clear and then lower the heat a little and hold for about five minutes.)
  4. Once your oil & beeswax mixture is mixed thoroughly, add the drops of your CO2 extracts right before pouring into your jar. Stir well.
  5. Pour your liquid balm into your jar and let it sit until it cools.
  6. Enjoy your nourishing and moisturizing face balm!
  7. Clean up tip: Wipe out the leftover ingredients while the pan is still warm (not hot). All dishes can be washed with soap/detergent and water. Lastly, avoid dumping a large amount of the wax/oil combo down the sink where it may cause a clog.

  3. Repeat step 2 with the Jojoba oil.

  6. Enjoy an energizing and uplifting massage!

Vanilla Coconut Every Day Moisturizer

Vanilla Coconut Every Day Body Moisturizer

This recipe will yield 3.5 oz. of balm

This moisturizer is definitely an everyday luxury for your skin. We loved using organic virgin Coconut oil because it easily absorbs into the skin and creates a healthy glow. Mixed with Vanilla CO2 extract, this body moisturizer has a dreamy fragrance, like macaroons cooking in the oven - one of Badger Bill's favorite scents! Love the texture but not the fragrance? Swap out the Vanilla CO2 Extract for your favorite essential oil to make your own Coconut Everyday Moisturizer!

Supplies:

  • Clean 4oz jar or tin and a tight-fitting lid (or 2-4 smaller jars or tins)
  • Small heat-resistant mixing bowl or glass measuring cup
  • Medium saucepan
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Measuring cups (for wet ingredient measurement)

Ingredients:

1.7 ounces or 3 1/3 tbsp Organic Coconut Oil
1 3/4 tbsp Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
.6 ounces or 1 1/4 tbsp Organic Beeswax
1 tsp Organic Castor Oil
7 drops Organic Rosemary CO2 Extract
7 drops Organic Vanilla CO2 Extract*

*NOTE: Do not use the standard Vanilla Extract meant for baking as it contains alcohol, is water rather than oil soluble, and will give your balm an unpleasant texture, poor fragrance and may allow for growth of bacteria.

Directions:

  1. Gather all of your ingredients and supplies.
  2. Add the Sunflower oil, Olive oil, Beeswax and Sunflower vitamin E to your mixing bowl.
  3. Fill a medium saucepan with about 2 inches of water and put on the stove on medium heat to heat up the water (you don’t want the water to be boiling - just hot).
  4. Gently lower your mixing bowl into the hot water bath.
  5. Once these ingredients are melted and blended together (about 20-30 minutes), remove the mixing bowl from the water bath. (Don’t forget to turn off your stovetop!)
  6. Take care not to get any splashes of water into your oil and beeswax mixture- adding water can introduce bacteria.
  7. Once your oil & beeswax mixture has cooled down a bit, though still liquid, add the drops of your CO2 extracts.
  8. Stir your mixture to incorporate the remaining CO2 extracts.
  9. Pour your liquid balm into your jar or tin and let it sit until it cools.
  10. Enjoy your moisturizing and delicious smelling body balm!
